Cee-lo – Funny Ass Song – F@#$ You! + Lyrics

September 2nd, 2010

Cee-lo, Cee-lo, Cee-lo…

For those of you who don’t know Cee-lo he is hip-hop, soul and RnB royalty. Working with countless artists over the years and then hitting the big time with his Danger Mouse collaboration under the joint name of Gnarls Barkley. If you don’t know the tune I’m talking about it’s goes like this…

Do you think I’m CRAZY!!!!

Anyway recently Mr. Lo has dropped this track. It’s a tried and tested formula. Do a throw-back tune to the 50/60’s and put something completely out of context in it. Amy Winehouse is just a Dusty Springfield with tattoos and a dirty mouth. In her case she happens to also write amazing songs and sing like an angel, the same is true for Cee-Lo.

The video, song, lyrics and especially the backing vocals on the line ‘ain’t that some shit!’ remind me of quirky OutKast classics like Roses. Damn I laugh every time kid swear at the beginning of the video!

Peep the lyrics below:

(Chorus)I see you driving \\\’round town
With the girl i love and i\\\’m like,
Fuck you!
Oo, oo, ooo
I guess the change in my pocket
Wasn\\\’t enough i\\\’m like,
Fuck you!
And fuck her too!
I said, if i was richer, i\\\’d still be with ya
Ha, now ain\\\’t that some shit? (ain\\\’t that some shit?)
And although there\\\’s pain in my chest
I still wish you the best with a…
Fuck you!
Oo, oo, ooo

Yeah i\\\’m sorry, i can\\\’t afford a ferrari,
But that don\\\’t mean i can\\\’t get you there.
I guess he\\\’s an xbox and i\\\’m more atari,
But the way you play your game ain\\\’t fair.

I pity the fool that falls in love with you
(oh shit she\\\’s a gold digger)
Well
(just thought you should know nigga)
Ooooooh
I\\\’ve got some news for you
Yeah go run and tell your little boyfriend

(chorus)

Now i know, that i had to borrow,
Beg and steal and lie and cheat.
Trying to keep ya, trying to please ya.
\\\’Cause being in love with you ass ain\\\’t cheap.

I pity the fool that falls in love with you
(oh shit she\\\’s a gold digger)
Well
(just thought you should know nigga)
Ooooooh
I\\\’ve got some news for you

Yeah go run and tell your little boyfriend

(chorus)

Now baby, baby, baby, why d\\\’you wanna wanna hurt me so bad?

(so bad, so bad, so bad)
I tried to tell my mamma but she told me
\\\”this is one for your dad\\\”
(your dad, your dad, your dad)
Uh! Whhhy? Uh! Whhhy? Uh!
Whhhy lady? Oh! I love you oh!
I still love you. Oooh!

(chorus)

Drastically Unappreciated Album – “Scream” + Message to the Haters

August 30th, 2010

I have only recently started listening to this album properly.

The vast cloud of negative feedback this album has around it makes me sad. True criticism is something vital to art’s development but NOT if it’s coming from a place of ignorance, arrogance, laziness and close-mindedness.  Chris Cornell made an album different to anything previous in his career.Whether or not it is to the listeners taste should not influence its status as progressive art. He could have easily put out another standard text-book rock album like “Carry On”, a safe and ultimately cowardly path. For one of the greatest ever rock voices to team up with a hip-hop and RnB creative is far from “selling out”. How can it be!?!? “Selling out” implies the disregard of art for the easy way out. Both Timbaland and Cornell were in completely foreign territory with this record. How could this be an easy way out?

I saw a comment on YouTube that really pissed me off; it was something to the effect of “it’s such a pity that Chris Cornell ended up like this”. What was even worse was the amount of support the comment received.  It takes a severe case of unjustified unearned arrogance to make a comment like that. If people want to be fans of an artist they should support and  facilitate him/her in anyway possible. An artist should never be writing on commission and just keeping people happy. Just because Iron Maiden (with exception of the Final Frontier) and ACDC have released the same album over and over again for the past 30 years doesn’t mean everyone has to.

Those who jumped on the “this album is shit” band wagon are lazy listeners who are aiding the degradation of music they think they are fighting.

So please don’t just sit there in a passive comfort zone. Engage with what artists are putting out. Love it. Hate it. Praise it. Slate it. But make sure you get your teeth stuck in first regardless of what you have heard from people.

Other cases in a similar vain to check out are: “Kanye West – 808s & Heartbreak” and “Metallica – St. Anger”.

Go now and watch this videos and listen to the album on Spotify.

New Rhyme – Superhero Rap

August 23rd, 2010

Like Dr. Bruce Banner I was caught up in
The wake of my own
Weapon of mass destruction
It unleashed monster inside of my dome
But I gained control, tamed the animal, I am the hulk
I am the strongest there is, unquestionable
But a price is paid
When you fight for a righteous way
“Thunderbolt Ross” lace your tracks explosive clay
Dynamite from the armory
Funded by the military state
Highly equipped enemy, trained to seek and eradicate

Imagine me a Pharaoh,
More than a conqueror,
Lucifer you’re hiding around the corner
I’m clocking ya
Romans chapter 8 gives me powers to break
You in two, like the bread at the table
The night before I defeated you
It happened time before
And I’m never going to let it go
The reason I breathe, for sure
Now to the people of today
Listen to the message I spray
Allow me to introduce myself, a free man
My name is Cape

Lissie Vip Gig at Levis Shop In London

August 22nd, 2010

Thanks to Milky Tea Kid me and my bass player Mr. Brickell got some tickets to this gig about 2 hours before the show. So glad we went. Lissie blew my mind with her vocal ability. I had a chat with her before the show and made sure she had a Cape Mix-Tape in her handbag for the car trip back to the hotel. Spot me arriving late during this video…typical.

Thank you Lissie for your amazing music. I’m sure 2010/11 is going to be huge for you.

Shout to Louise at AMP and Grandaddy best band ever.

My new friend Steph + Cape Garden Services

August 21st, 2010

So yesterday I get a text from Steph…something about gardening. Instantly I was in. Lawn mower in the boot, dressed and groomed to impress (you what I’m saying?) and then headed out to find this savage garden and tame the beast. After borrowing an extension cable from a member of the UK Based South African Gardening Alliance we got down and dirty. Even with some serious Cape stuff in the pipeline like a Major Tom video and single release to worry about this had to take priority. The things we do for pretty girls sometimes!

Check out the before and after…
